Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 established near the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, conducts Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. MSO helps to develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity. These operations complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations, and seek to disrupt violent extremism within the maritime environment and include support to the transportation of personnel and materials.

Coordination with CTF150 is undertaken by EUNAVFOR.
